Improved Mentor Satisfaction: Emphasising Protégé Training for Adult-age Mentoring Dyads

The research study focuses the effects of mandated-training for protégés on mentor outcomes within a large-scale e-mentoring program MentorNet for adults. In this randomized experiment, 200 protégés were assigned to a mandated e-training (experimental) group, and another 200 protégés were assigned to a voluntary e-training (control) group. The mentors were more satisfied, engaged with program, and held their protégés in higher esteem.

Sources of Support for Pre-service Teachers During School Experience

The study reported on changes sources of support by preservice teachers. A group of preservice teachers was interviewed. The interviews were semi-structured, and focused on categories. The participants moved from formal to informal sources of support. They particularly valued immediate professional support and advice from their teacher tutors and also the social support of their pre-service and teacher colleagues.

Mentoring At-risk Adolescent Girls: Listening to 'Little Sisters'

In order to develop an understanding of mentoring on high risk adolescent girls, the article explores the relationship between 'Little Sisters' and 'Big Sisters'. Findings suggest that a long-term, nurturing mentoring relationship had a positive impact on the self-efficacy, aspirations, and possible selves of the at-risk adolescent girls.

Mentoring Expectations and Realities: An Analysis of Metaphorical Thinking Among Female Undergraduate Protégés and their Mentors in a University Mentoring Programme

The article explores expectation between mentors and students. Results indicate that protégé held more traditional and hierarchical mentoring ideals at the beginning of the program and that most mentoring ideals differed from actual experiences. Due to the disparity, the authors suggest metaphors be used to enhance mentoring experience, and align the expectations and realities between mentors and protégés.

Alternative Mentoring of Street Girls in Bangladesh: New Identities and Non-traditional Opportunities

Technologically-Based Mentoring Provided to Teachers: A Synthesis of the Literature

Technology mediated coaching or mentoring has a strong possibility of overcoming barriers of accessibility of onsite mentoring. The article explored peer reviewed empirical studies on technology-mediated mentoring for inservice teachers. Three mediums for technology-based mentoring were explored: technology-enhanced professional development coupled with access to a mentor, electronic mail, and online discussion forums. Those who accessed the resource reported shifts in their attitudes towards instruction and changes in instructional practices.

Factors That Influence Mentor and Teacher Interactions During Technology Integration Collaborative Apprenticeships

The study described a teachers technology integration designed to provide onsite, ongoing, mentoring course/ Results indicate that teachers who were successful in designing technology-enhanced lessons tended to interact differently from their peers. When their primary motivation was to improve student learning, successful teachers were more likely to overcome obstacles.

Mentoring New Mentors: Learning to Mentor Preservice Science Teachers

The Perceived Significance of the Supervisor, the Assistant, and Parents for Career Development of Beginning Kindergarten Teachers

The study conducted in Israel, explores the beginner kindergarten teachers and their experiences and career issues. Based on semi-structures interviews, with 15 Israeli kindergarten teachers, the teachers' determinants factors were much similar to their counterparts in the school system, except for three parts: the assistant, the supervisor and the parents. Those where to have much influence, either positive or negative, on beginning kindergarten teachers’ task accomplishment, success and well-being.
